Regulatory Frameworks and Guidelines for Antimicrobial Use in Veterinary Medicine

This seminar by Dr. Karolina Scahill will focus on regulatory frameworks of veterinary antimicrobial treatment in Europe and Sweden. The speaker will discuss implementation practices and share personal experiences including clinical scenarios in relation to current frameworks. An overview of available antimicrobial treatment guidelines will be presented, and the speaker will give advice on how they can be implemented by clinicians. Evidence gaps in relation to antimicrobial treatment will be discussed briefly.

Karolina Scahill, DVM, MSc, is the director of antimicrobial stewardship and research at a private referral hospital of companion animals in Sweden and the vice leader of ENOVAT's (European Network for Optimization of Veterinary Antimicrobial Treatment) guideline working group. Karolina is also undertaking an industrial PhD that focuses on antimicrobial stewardship and evidence-based guideline methodology.

This program has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit for veterinarians in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval.
